Ottawa offers matching grants of up to $10,000 for residential heritage properties, and up to $35,000 for large-scale buildings. Eligible properties are those designated under the Ontario Heritage Act or located within a heritage conservation district.
Because the grant is matching, the City covers a share of your costs rather than the whole project. Budget on that basis.
Worth knowing: several widely circulated directories still list Ottawa's maximum at $5,000. That figure is years out of date. The current program is substantially larger.
