Toronto's Heritage Grant Program covers 50% of eligible conservation work on designated heritage properties, to a maximum of $10,000 for residential buildings.
The detail most owners miss: there is no cap for institutional, multi-residential and industrial buildings. If your property is not a single-family house, the $10,000 ceiling does not apply to you.
Toronto also runs a separate heritage property tax rebate. It is a different program with different rules, and it is worth checking whether you qualify for both.
Toronto contains the largest heritage conservation district in Ontario. The combined North and South Rosedale HCDs cover roughly 1,800 properties, most of them residential. If you are inside a heritage conservation district you are designated under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act, and you are eligible.
